With Christmas only a few days away it’s only natural that the question at the back of your mind is ‘How do I stay on track over Christmas?’

The temptation to overindulge in wine, pavlova and Christmas ham can sometimes feel unavoidable. That’s why we’ve put together five tips to help you plan, prepare and party without impacting your year of hard work!

So, pour yourself a glass of prosecco, it’s time to bring on the festive season!

Christmas in only one day, find your balance

Despite the shops bringing out Christmas decorations in November, and your crazy neighbour putting up their lights in August, it’s important to remind yourself that Christmas is only one day of the year. It’s okay to indulge and enjoy yourself!

To enjoy your Christmas lunch without guilt, we’d recommend nailing your healthy meals, and snacks for the week leading up to Christmas. Focus on eating low-sugar, high-protein meals that leave you feeling energised, focused and strong!

Check out the recipes on our website for some healthy snack inspiration.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

One of the best-kept tips for weight loss is to always be hydrated, which is why on our program we recommend consuming 2-3 litres a day. As well as having amazing weight loss benefits, water is also a great defender of hangovers.

With the constant flow of cocktails, beer and champagne on Christmas day, it can be easy to say ‘yes’ to a refill without thinking of what you’re consuming. To combat a killer hangover, we recommend pairing every glass of bubbles with a glass of water. We also recommend these low-calorie / sugar alcoholic drinks.

Hydration is key to helping cleanse alcohol from your system, keeping you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the next day.

Portion Control

Portion control is a great way to enjoy a bit of everything without overeating. Opt for a smaller plate size, as often our stomachs won’t ‘think’ they’re full until our plates are empty! By having a smaller plate you can still eat everything you want, but without the huge portion sizes. By serving up your own plate, you’re in control of what you’re eating.

Cherish your food and the Christmas memories

Christmas is the time to cherish your memories and your food! Christmas lunch is usually a mouthwatering affair that can lead to finishing a plate in under five minutes. However, by practising mindful eating, you can improve your digestion, and enjoy every bite!

The brain receptors that speak to your stomach can take up to 30 minutes to register you’re full, so eat slowly so you know when to stop and avoid overeating.

The main event – Christmas lunch!

It’s officially the main event…. what we’ve all been waiting for, Christmas lunch! By planning your day around your main meal, you can ensure you’re not overeating or grazing mindlessly to fill yourself up.

If you’re like every other woman and like to snack throughout the day, look towards healthier options such as salads, seafood and low-calorie finger food.

At the end of the day ladies, remember to just enjoy yourself. It’s one day. Santa would want you to be happy!
