Janet is 27kg Down and a Healthier Future
Share
When she first started her journey, the goal wasn't just to lose weight. It was to feel better, take control of her health and be there for her 10-year-old daughter.
Like many women, the road wasn't perfectly straight. After losing 20kg, life threw some unexpected challenges her way and she regained weight while focusing on her mental health. But instead of giving up, she chose to start again.
Today she's down 27kg from where she began, has reversed her pre-diabetes, no longer needs medication for high blood pressure, has improved her cholesterol and fatty liver, and most importantly, feels happier, healthier and able to keep up with the little girl who inspired her from day one.
Here's her story:
What was your reason WHY you started The Lady Shake? Describe your journey from the start, if there were any hurdles along the way.
I started The Lady Shake after trying a few different shakes, not finding the other brands enjoyable at all or just very bland flavours. I've had some medical conditions like fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver and I was also classed as a pre-diabetic, so I really wanted to find a way to improve my health as I had a terrible relationship with food and 0 movement. I was given a GLP-1 from my GP and started my journey in late July 2024 at 100kg. From that journey I lost 20kg up until I had some mental health issues that needed attention; after that I had gained back 10kg due to sneaky bad habits and medications prescribed to help with my mental health. This February I re-started my journey and have managed to lose 17 kilos so far and I'm hoping to lose some more! I started at 100kg in 2024 and I'm currently 73kg to this day! My fibromyalgia and the symptoms for that have been 10 times better, my BP is now normal and no need for medication management for that, I'm no longer a pre-diabetic, fatty liver has majorly reduced, and my cholesterol is much better. My why was for my health and my daughter. I have a 10-year-old girl who means the world to me. I'm parenting solo, so I must be there for her!
What was your routine with The Lady Shake? Any favourite flavours? What are your favourite flavour combos?
My routine with The Lady Shake was morning breakfast (8am), I would have a shake, mix and match protein bars around 11am (I usually get what I can when they are on special). I'd have another shake anywhere between 12–3pm. Then I would have a decent dinner at 5/6pm. My favourite shake is the Mixed Berries, and when Birthday Cake was around that was so yummy as well!
What's your go-to bundle pack that you continue to purchase? Eg. Favourite flavours in a 'Buy 3 Get 1 Free Pack' you continue to buy?
When I can, I do enjoy purchasing the Buy 3 Get 1 Free pack, otherwise Priceline and Terry White have specials on the shakes as well and I love taking advantage of discounts 😊 Every penny counts! I love the Mixed Berries, Banana, Strawberry and Vanilla the most!
How do you feel now after using The Lady Shake and achieving this goal?
I feel so much better mentally and physically. I was struggling with just showering and being out of breath. I have a lot more energy and I'm a lot happier.
What was the biggest mindset shift you experienced during your journey?
Learning to say no to food chatter in my mind, learning when I'm overeating. I was a big emotional eater, and if I couldn't sleep, I would eat until I did. I had to learn to control that behaviour and learn better choices.
If you could go back and talk to Day One You, what would you say?
I would tell myself that I can do it, that it's okay to stop and take a break and not feel guilty for it. It's okay for weight not to shift straight away. I'll be happier and healthier in the end and it's all worth it.
What's one thing you're now able to do that you couldn't (or wouldn't) do before?
I'm able to be more active, I can walk longer distances without being out of breath. Even climbing stairs was hard, I would always go find the elevator but now I make the choice to walk them. I'm able to keep up with my daughter as well and not tire easily.
How has this journey changed your relationship with food?
I now have a better understanding of what I'm eating and how to make better choices. I'm eating more vegetables than I had been doing previously.
What would you say to someone who's thinking about starting but feels nervous or unsure?
Take the first step, allow yourself time, be patient and enjoy the journey. Find what works for you.
Did your goals change along the way? If so, how did they evolve?
My goals were for the most part focused on dropping 10kg. Once I had dropped the first 10kg, my next goal was to lose another 10kg. My body did fluctuate weight for a while, so my goals did become difficult. Losing 10kg then changed to "How about just 2kg?"
How do you maintain your results now – what does "real life balance" look like for you?
I'm still currently maintaining my results and still ongoing weight loss. My routine is the same so far. I have my days where I spoil myself though! Everyone deserves those days.
Do you have a Lady Shake hack to share for others or advice that helped you along the way?
I'm not sure if this would count as a hack, but it made making shakes easier for me. I bought a mini travel blender cup from Kmart that blends my shake for me on the go, all I do is add my straw and start drinking it 😊
Support network – Did you have a support system, such as friends, family, or a coach? How did they help you?
I have a great housemate who was helping me at home make changes, he's also spent some time using The Man Shake. My GP has been a great support, along with joining The Lady Club on Facebook where I could ask questions about products and see the change it had for the lovely ladies in the group.
Can you share a memorable experience or story from your journey? Example = non-scale win?
No longer having high blood pressure and being out of the pre-diabetic state is the most amazing experience. I'm on my way to being healthier in my body.
Have you tried any of the Lady Shake recipes online and if so, which one?
I've had the The Lady Shake Banana pancakes and the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps, but both were just so yummy!
